Red flesh dragon fruit grows on the Hylocereus cactus and is native to Central and South America. Its flesh is mildly sweet and the taste has been described as a blend of pear, kiwi, and watermelon.

This dragon fruit is rich in fiber and contains vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, iron, and magnesium. It also contains lycopene an organic pigment called a carotenoid that has been linked to improved heart health and sunburn protection.
