The yellow dragonfruit comes from the Hylocereus megalanthus cactus which is found in warmer regions such as southern Mexico and Central America. Its bright yellow skin has curved spines on the outside while the flesh is white, translucent, and studded with small edible black seeds.

It is sweeter than other varieties as it contains more sugar. However, it is also richer in vitamins and minerals including A and C, calcium, and iron. It is a natural laxative, containing almost 5 grams of fiber per every six-ounce serving.
