Hawaiian Longan has golden brown skin and translucent flesh that has a musky, sweet taste comparable to its cousin the lychee fruit. It is native to Southern Asia and the name longan means 'dragon eye' in Chinese due to its pale white flesh and central black seed resembling a reptile's eye. Hawaiian Longans are typically eaten fresh by themselves or in salads and refrigerated longans taste very refreshing.
